My neighbors craftsman lawn tractor and my drill press use the same system. I have always thought it would be a nifty thing to have. It would be very simple compared to a transmission with set ratios, would operate smoothly, and it would have a built in clutch. I would really enjoy being able to keep the engine just above idle and cruise around at 15mph. :auto:

drill presses.... what one did you get? never heard of one that works like that

Drill presses, heh.... I got the Ryobi DP12 blah blah blah. It was the larger version of the 10" one you got. The press works fine now, but I had to send it back for a MONTH to get them to fix the spindle which was causing huge amounts of run-out... Next time I will save up some more money, or get a cast iron beast off craigslist.

srry i havent checked this in a while.
i could use a motorbike gearbox but then i would have to make sure it could handle my engine power and if it would fit in the engine space on my gokart

But if i did that i would waste a brand new engine. Becuz i dont plan to build another gokart in the near future.

Wouldn't it b cheaper to use what i have insted of buying new stuff. And buying a premaid trans takes all the fun out of it

if i ran it til i killed it i would still have to make the homemade trans so then i wouldn't need to buy the motorbike gearbox. so it would save me money to just make the homemade trans right?

Don't worry about what he's going on about it's just a bit of correction

Technically Fabronan is right
It is just a sort of common saying
To flog it off is to have some peice of junk car and to sell it for way more than its worth
the saying has become something u say when ever someone is selling something, as to stir them up saying whatever they sold was junk and they cheated the new owner

But the saying has become a common response to someone selling anything in everyday conversation
So basically I'm saying u can sell the engine and use the profits to buy a bike engine

Sorry for confusing u with "slang"

but fowler wouldnt you rather say i built that instead of i bought that (for the trans of course not the rest of it). i would rather build a trans that i can customize to my needs instead of buying one that i cant change without total disassemble.
