I got an elephant grill in my back yard. LOL.
So you are saying that the stereotype American portrayed in movies is untrue?
Whats the difference between the two?
Yes and no. ...there are plenty of folks that throw weenies and burgers on a grill and call it good. .... Grills operate at high temperature and those items satisfy the insatiable impatience of most Americans. ...done in under 15 minutes. ....however. ..the bulk of burgers and dogs (weeners)...comsumed by the general American public are purchased ready-to-eat....fast food....or (junk food)...
Now barbeque or BBQ..... ( ever impatient Americans. ...lol...) is totally different. ...as mentioned low and slow......and as previously touched on. ...varies by region.....however.....this is serious business. ...as big a deal in America as soccer is in many countries. .......
There are BBQ chefs that travel the country entering BBQ competitions for big money. ...they make a living at it and are indeed chefs....as a handful consistently finish in the top 5 out of 3-400 entries.....These folks are also versatile as most of these competitions have categories reflecting the various forms of regional BBQ.......Texas brisket....St.Louis ribs....whole hog....tri-tip.... wet ribs, dry ribs.....pork shoulder....ect.....
Personally- I grill and smoke a lot of different stuff....and am pretty good at it. ....people always say the same thing after tasting......"you ought to open a restaurant! ".....
EDIT: BTW....Another reason for the dogs n burgers...... $$$$$....cheap!!! And you can't trust movies to portray reality. ...otherwise. ...there would be thousands of Aussies "throwing another shrimp on the barbie"...which ain't happening! !!!
...aaaaand Germany wins...
