wooden workbench

I'm not sure if this will be sound enough.. my current workbench is at the end of its life. cutting things on top of it, is annoying, at best. its mostly for general use, some wood working, the picture doesn't show all the joinery and mounting hardware.

Just wondering if it will be stable, or would it be too wobbly? I have some lumber to work with, not a whole lot, but I do have a ton of plywood.. so if someone can come up with something better..

I got dimensional lumber.
2; 2x8 - 8 foot
2; 2x4 - 8 foot
2; 2x4 - 10 foot.

and particularly an endless supply of plywood...

depending on the joints (it's all about the joints really) and abuse both should be okay'ish

simple thing to have a magnitude of stability for lateral loads is tacking a sheet of plywood to the backside of the table legs;
that way they cannot tilt sideways.
Plus you can remove the front support for added storage/comfort

Same stability level as two diagonal supports.

Just think about those cheap closets you can buy at this swedish shop...
without the backwall it will drop sideways under it's own weight without anything in it.
with that thin piece of plywood backwall it's sturdy enough to keep your clothes in

Yeah, they should work OK. I would dewfinately go with what Alex said about putting plywood on the back. That will just make sure everything is held together

now that i've gotten some sleep, and have some sense knocked into me.. lol thanks sid for reminding me about utilizing the plywood for extra strength..

THIS looks a bit stronger.

And still allows me me to install a vice.

Looking at that now, that was a complete mess... tireness stinks! and makes you think like a dumb dumb.

I don't know whats worse, that it took me five hours to BUILD this.. or now its time to clean up...
