hi all i am i need of advice.
electric go karts are not big in england but im building one for my son.
i have a 36v 1000w motor
3x 12v batterys
throttle pedal of a electric golf buggy
my question is are there any thing else i will need to purchase on a budget and is there a basic way to wire it up

This is an international forum &, as such, there are people in & out 24 hours a day. The "rule of thumb" is, if you haven't received any responses after 24 hours, then you may bump a thread... Patience...

A controller. You can't simply connect the batteries & throttle to the motor & expect it to work, you need to find a compatible controller which will not only tie everything together but, prevent everything from burning out...

Unfortunately, that's all the help I can offer right now, apart from do some research...

Do you know what kind of throttle you have? Probably either a hall effect or 5k which is important to know when selecting a controller. Many options here but fewer if you are on a budget I would start here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/36V-1000W-E...her_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item41844c7207&vxp=mtr (assuming you have a hall effect pedal)

I just bought the same Kelly controller as posted above. Pairing it with a 2.5hp permanent magnet motor. It sounds like both The OP and I need a DC contactor. Aside from that, I'm planning on adding a key switch and forward/reverse toggle to flip the polarity to the motor.

I would hate to turn anyone away but...
I too have an electric Kart The Razor "dune buggy" 24v. When I was working on it I found another forum for electric scooters and karts. The guys there were very knowlegable on electric motors volts etc. Not that there is not someone here but they were more specific to your exact needs.

What kind of motor are you going to use?
brused or brusless?
I think if you want to do it better from start ,do it with a brusless motor ,they give you more potential on power , torque and controllers could be programed for better features!

If you did indeed get the controller with the throttle then you have everything you need. The wiring is pretty simple you have to wires, positive and negative, coming from the batteries to the controller. And then two wires from the controller going to the motor also positive and negative. The throttle Should have a plug that goes right into the speed controller. That's the most basic set up you could possibly have, besides that you may have reverse wiring or an emergency cut off relay to deal with also.
