I'm sure this has been asked before, but can't find a previous thread on this subject. I have a 6.5 hp harbor freight clone engine and i just want to know how to wire the lights from the generator on the engine. It has the wiring coming out of the engine cover. Thanks.

is the engine electric start

the wires coming out are for the kill switch proberly

all engine have a "gereator" in your case they are called coils and you have 1 bolted nere the flywheel and a magenet on the flywheel passes by the coil to make electricity
like every generator basically

but your engine only makes enough to power the spark plug

u can try and bolt on a second coil or just attach a battery to your kart and after every use of the lights u will charge the battery

unless u acctually have an alternator or generator driven by the engine which would be odd but useful

I have the original engine which is a tecumseh and it must have had the coil to run lights because the kart came with lights from the factory. Maybe i could steal the coil off the old engine and bolt it to the case on the new one?
