Hey guys, I've finally got a engine for my project. It's a 2008 YZF R6 engine (r version not the s) Only has 10,xxx miles/17,xxx k's on it, how ever I've noticed that the wiring loom/harness has been cut near the fuse box and the key barrel plug? (Pics Attached) I haven't been able to start it up yet as I still need to sort out a fuel pump. I've downloaded a workshop service manual for it, but the wiring diagrams confuse me.. Any way if anyone has any clue to what has been cut off my loom or if it will cause any problems that would be great, thanks in advance for any help.

Well i converted it to pdf so I could upload it but the single page is 334kb, to big for this server.. Anyway I converted it to jpg so I could upload it, but now you can't read it %100. I'll try to sort out something better but hopefully this will do.

That's a rubbish diagram

Should have got a Suzuki
Lol

Where's the page with the numbers correspond to
It'll be a list of components

Is this a carby bike with no ecu?
There's no where near enough harness there to run ego

The list of components is up the page a bit but I'll post it again, Yeah it's pretty poor, I wanted to go gsxr but got a pretty good deal for $1300 with all bolt ons rad, ecu, pipes, etc. Engines seem to cost more in AUS. Anyway it's fuel injected, not carby. The picture is just of the section of loom that is damage, the rest of the loom is fine and everything is there.

Edit: If you download the pdf from here: pdf document: Wiring+diagram+2.pdf you can actually read the wire colours etc.

Hi,
You need to print the wiring diagram otherwise those things are always confusing.
Dual A4 (A3 would be great) and one print for the explanation part (color codes etc)

With that it's easy to follow..

For example.. you see there's a Red-Yellow wire cut on the first picture.
Now just look at the top row of the diagram and find R/Y in the connectors..
(Wiring harness (A) ).. and in the diagram itself you see it's part 82 ( Headlight relay) (85 fuse, 68 switch)

Now, get a pen and mark the part of the line involved. (if you can use matching colors)

Repeat for all colors.
Sometimes colors repeat
(black and red for example should be plenty.. it's almost always a line from or to the battery of course)
So you need to trace the line to the next connector to make sure you found the correct line in the diagram.

To be honest:
the first I would do is.. FIX ALL!
remove as much wrapping as needed (still a lot) and fix all broken cables,
And once the harness is in working condition you can find the parts in the diagram you don't need anymore and just ignore the connectors or remove the sub harness if possible.

Thanks heaps sid, will do. I think the bloke I bought it off cut it off because he thought I didn't need lights.. I'll get to work on this loom then.
