I traded for a post hole digger/auger machine today. It is all there and runs perfectly. It has a Honda 160 QT2 5.5 hp horizontal shaft motor on it. The output shaft (crankshaft) has a centrifugal clutch w/ a v belt pulley that drives another v belt pulley that turns the vertical auger transmission. It has a cover over it and looks like a Torque a Verter. I am planning to use this motor on a mini chopper trike. Questions I have are, does anyone have any experience w/ this motor, would it be better to discard the v belt drive and use a chain drive, the specs on this motor say it is governed to 3900 rpm, is that enough? Also would I maybe be wise to just sell the auger and invest in some other power. I see the motor sells for 300.00 -390.00 new.
