I have a 6hp automatic engine that I got for free.
I am rather debating on whether to get a torque converter setup or to get a manual clutch 125cc ATV engine for about $230 which is just above how much a torque converter setup will cost me.

Help me decide and list me cons and pros.

Okay, list form:

6hp with CVT

Pros:
Ease of installation
Simpler components (easier to troubleshoot/repair)
Cheaper (You can probably get a chinese CVT for quite a bit less $)

Cons:

Narrower power band, and less efficient use of same
Belt replacement
Limited gearing range

Bike engine-
Pros:

The cool factor, including stirring your own gears
Wider available gearing range
Higher HP per cube
Better use of torque curve

Cons:
Installation requires fabrication tools and skills well beyond what is required for OPE engine and CVT combo
More difficult to troubleshoot/repair
Potential difficulty matching chain and sprockets

There's more (there's ALWAYS more! LOL) but that's what I've got off the top of my head...

IF you have the tools and fab skills required to mount up a bike engine, I'd go with it...

I visit a school where I have access to most tools including CNC cutters, milling machine, drill press, various saws, and more.
