Hey Folks, Have a yerf dog 3202. Good price but ridden hard. Very hard. Tecumseh 6hp, carb springs removed, rigged wire connecting governor and carb. Problem, green driven spring popping out. Driver says 30 comet. Will pushing the cart backwards mess up the driven? Purchased new driven, back plate on old driven is bent and rubbing against the chain. The new driven has a red spring and not a green spring. Does this mean the new driven is for a 40 and not a 30? Is a 40 driven inboard only? Thanks in advance for your help.

many questions...

no the red spring does not necessarily mean it's a series 40;
the diameter can tell

series 30 is either 6 or 7 in diameter
series 40 is 6.5 or 7.5 IIRC.

the main difference is the rear sheave (opposite the cam)
a series30 will be nearly straight (2.3°) a series 40 15°

No, with a reverse wound spring (yellow) you can run a series40 driven outboard.
but you can never run a series40 driven with a series30 driver.
