Well, you really need to weld to get a solid bike. Are you sure that stuff is zinc plated? Even if so, you can weld it, you just have to be super-safe and not breathe any of the fumes. It can kill you, so it's not something to be unsafe about.

Better to just go and get some mild steel and cut to length, and then get someone to weld it all together for you. Are you in school? Maybe there's a shop teacher that could help.

robin, that 2h.p. kind of depends on what your going to do with it, and how heavy you are. if you are going to ride on mostly hard, flat surfaces and you use a 12 toth clutch with a 72 toth wheel sprocket then you can have some fun. if your heavyer and you want to ride in soft hilly ground, then you need more motor.--phil

Hey your off to a good start! I was intrested in your question regarding the 2 hp engine. First off, yes the engine shold be fine. Be sure you can aquire a clutch to fit the shaft before diving in to deep, alot of earlier briggs 2hp motors had a 1/2 inch pto shaft....hard to find a clutch for! If this is the case, buy a normal 3/4 bore clutch and make a sleeve to go from 1/2 to the 3/4 ( wish you lived here, it would take 5 minutes) Your gearing sounds okay for putting around, but will a 72 tooth rear drag the ground in a turn or straight up for that matter? put a straight pipe on it and get rid of the govenor and factory air cleaner...it should pull better. I have heard that a 4hp carb setup is a very close fit, if you run accross one give it a look, or just ream out the throat of the existing carb and get rid of the choke parts (major restriction) Good luck, keep the pictures coming.
