why wont my predator 212 idle down when the screw is turned?

hi,

so my kart runs a predator 212 hemi and when I start it it takes off and I have to hold it back. I read online that the idle is to high and the clutch is engaging and kicking it forward

well I started the engine and I turned the screw to the left to idle it down but it didn't change anything

Push the butterfly valve with your finger while you turn out it is possible it got stuck in the fully in position. This worked for me.

Sounds like you need a stronger return spring possibly.

the engine is brand new and is run every 3 months and is inspected before so I dont see it being stuck

Just try it, just becausenit was inspected before doesn't mean everything's perfect.

Did you loosen the throttle plate nut??
And if anything you should have a return spring attached to the throttle arm anyways...so it has positive return...

ALso check the throttle cable, see if it has something making a slow return or rust ect...

i looked in my carb today and none of the flaps are stuck and its mooving fine

How can the engine be both brand new and also ran every 3 months?
Is there a governor still hooked up?
Have you messed with the linkages at all?
Did you loosen the nut atop the the throttle lever on the throttle plate like Kutzy suggested?

Show pictures of your own carb as it is hooked up. Many pictures. Lots of angles. Including the linkage.

If you can try adjusting the air fuel mix if its to rich or to lean it could cause a high idle speed. If not check for vacuum leaks in and around the carb.

check gaskets around the carb if even one carb related gasket or seal is faulty it's going to run lean an idle high.

I figured it out my engines idle is already as low as it will go and my clutch was bought for a older less powerful engine and thats why it wont change idle
