WOW. That looks really good. I got on old briggs 5hp. I already fixed it but I am thinking of painting it a redoing/restoring it like you did. Did you repaint the outside of that engine that silver color or is that the original just really clean? What did you use to paint the blower housing,etc.? And did you paint it with powdercoat,etc. or with rattle cans?

No, outside is just polished with steel brush and sandpaper...

Paint is cheapest paint , left overe from last project so I expecting it will last until first run..

It is not can-paint, I used air brush...

First, forgot to have 4 oil cap and didnt put 2 on bottom and put oil in engine... You can imagine result...

Next, fuel tank leaking, and wash out new paint from fan cover..

After that trying fire it up...

Carburetor floading and no spark whatsoever...

Only manage to make exhaust...

back to kart ..

as TC finally arrived, mounting wasn't straightforward ..

first shaft was 20 mm and TC was 3/4'' ..

after that solved, shaft was too short , that was solved as described in other thread ..

as motor was off , I cleaned carb , found new exhaust, put new throttle linkage, replace fuel line and decided to put engine back to frame ..

and guess what, TC sprocket goes straight to the frame ..

hopefully, I will be able to put big axle sprocket between this two rails, remove cross bar and put it further back and figure out how to keep bearing holder strong .. maybe put additional bearing on other rail to distribute stress ...

but have to make keyseat on axle ..

also put smart solution air filter until find direct holder ...

anyway, few pictures ..

Nice deal. BTW kart m0lim on one of your earlier pictures where you see the valve springs. There is a cover on that and a tube coming out of the cover and goes to the carb. Is that crankcase ventilation?

Yeah, it is vent tube and originaly second end goes into air filter.

Localy we call it uberlauf, and on old engines (or brand new yugo) ussualy was taked underneeth engine as smoke was comming out.

Actually thinking about it that is a but expensive. I live in Canada so a bolt like that would cost 30-40 cents. So maybe a bit cheaper US. I recently bought some bolts for my mini bike, a.k.a pocket bike. There was about 5 different type of bolts for the whole engine. Ordered about 4 of every bolt+lock washers+ they were good quality and they cost all together 5 bucks Canadian. So that is about 3.80 US. If you want I could source bolts for you and ship them to you?
