Don't underestimate the power of 9V batteries!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hwLHdBTQ7s

Jus' to carry on the example heh;

244 disposable Alkaline 9v batteries @ $3ea = $732

595mAh x 244 = 145.18ah/20a draw = the cost of operation for Spoonman's motor is $732 every seven hours & fifteen minutes best case scenario... or almost exactly $100 an hour.

oooouch, but thanks lol - that was fun :D

Cordless power tool batteries are actually a bit of a rip-off, unless you've "free" ones kicking around, I wouldn't recommend buying any for this project.

No, They are a LOT of a rip-off! Around here, you can expect to pay over $100 for a single DeWalt XRP 18v NiCd. The tools outlive the batteries no matter what you do. Once your batteries are shot, you're better off to buy a new tool that comes with 2 batteries for about the same price as 2 batteries- now you're in the unique position of "do I throw this tool out?", even though it's still good... Arrgh!

Thanks BA, for the great explanations!

Gotta look for the good old non genuine batteries

I know the hitachi batteries are about $140 ea

Some Chinese ones are $10 ea and last longer on average
But the Chinese ones have no warranty and one in every 8 we buy fails immediately
