Why not allowed on a VPN here?

it is an annoyance to connect and disconnect on a VPN just for this site. For privacy reasons. i mean you don't block proxy tunnels do you?

Spammers loooove proxy tunnels and VPN,
as soon a spammer uses a specific such way of connecting,
that one will be spoiled for all other users as well.

you're annoyed by that? Well we can't do anything against it.
But you can, force your proxy your vpn your isp if you wish to get rid of spammers from their services.
Or change the service until you find one that's not blocked already..
the cheapest is likely the most used by spammers
