Why is it some new members can come here and be welcomed with open arms....while others dissed?

To be more specific ...in one localized area: two members both want to create overpopowered death traps : One appears to be not only competent in their endeavor, but join the forum properly....appear to be mentally stable...and ask pertinent questions, and seem rooted very firmly in reality. They've done the homework and paid their dues.

On the other hand: we get members unable to Capitalize, punctuate, or form complete sentences...that come here to "show off"...dis the forum, and are all around jerks. The inability to form complete sentences and spell and punctuate is my first red flag. But..that's not a deal killer...when they start making idiotic posts, ignoring advice, failing to answer questions...

WELL....:surrender: ...Poboy out!

I would say the main factor is the age difference and education between the 2 paragraphs you made.
The other factor is that the second paragraph problem is all the texans joining the forum.

This is probably a socio-geo-psycholgical subject that needs further examination. However, the crux of the issue could likely be boiled down thusly: Texans live in a utopia wherein resources are so plentiful that working and using energy for survival is unnecessary. Thus the Texans are able to exist and reproduce without the benefit of exercising their minds in order to survive, leading to a certain degree of mental numbness. This condition is most apparent in those Texans aged 30 and under. However, those Texans who survive to the age of 40 or greater and more likely to be awesome because they are imbued with and surrounded by the indelible awesome history of Texas, which is, by the way, awesome.

Texas is what California could have been when it grew up, but Mommy and Daddy were hippies.

YEP!
The difference is paragraph 1 is over 30 and can do stuff.

Paragraph 2; under 30, saw it on Utube with their smart phone, and think anyone can and is entitled to be able to build everything!!!

Those occupying the latter type should be encouraged, or humored, as much as the former category. Some of you all are downright abusive in your disdain. It troubles me as we strive to be all-inclusive and family friendly. :(

I say the Darwin Effect is always in play (as well as Murphy) and the foolhardy will always find a way to weed themselves out of the gene pool eventually. That's why I don't believe in warning labels, beyond the obvious of course.

Since this forum has many channels, I understand its difficult for a newbee to understand the context of Lord Kartman's umm, edgy-ness. If you do study more of the content here, however, I believe you will begin to appreciate his succinct and honest comments. Also, everything in Texas west of Dallas is a little harsh.

I prefer pie to cake, so there.

I prefer to be the bad guy...so that the rest of the forum can remain nice ...and it doesn't come across as we're all a bunch of jerks. In fact...it really bothers me when a bunch of people start jumping on any member...new or established, young or old, better to be perceived as a great forum with one jerk on it ....than a forum full of them.
