I just got a cart with what I believe is series 30, it slips, CAN NOT climb hills, and it dosent accelerate well! infact after only 5 hours on a brand new manco 5959 belt it was ripped in to a thousand peaces! I thought all these symptoms were from the old belt that it had when I got it.

so naturally I want to rip this rubber belt drive out and get a real clutch or at least a Centrifugal clutch, but no. From all my research I learn that Torque converters are supposed to be better for hills and off road "where I drive 99% of the time" sooo I ask what do you think it my problem??

I really want to be able to drive this thing up the drive way, but its cant do it the belt slips until smoke pours out!

What can I do to get better performance form this thing???

its either the wrong belt, or the wrong series, either the engine is to big for that converter, or you have your wrong belt, take it to someone who specilzes, let them get you the right belt, infact put pictures up, blaz might be able to tell you which belt you need

Can you post pics of your kart, and tell us the number of teeth on the jackshaft sprocket, number of teeth on the axle sprocket, and diameter of your rear tires? Sounds like your gear ratio is too high.

And welcome to DIYGK.

if its smoking, stop driving. my TC only gets warm to the touch. over heating it will expand the springs and mess it up.

lets see:

*tire size
*rear sprocket size
*jackshaft sprocket size

I would love to post pictures of it but as of yesterday I trailered it to a friends an hour and half away to use when we had all these problems.

As soon as it started smoking I killed it and stopped driving.
I think I might of ordered the wrong belt.... it came with a manco 5959 from the original owner and what I ended up with from amazon was a symmetrical......

Hit us up with all the information above that you can gather. For offroad conditions especially, there's no beating a CVT. I can tell you that I absolutely punish mine, pushing 450 lbs up and down hills, in wet and snow, burnouts, donuts and drifting. In four years, I replaced my belt only once. And that is only because my neice wedged into a tree, panicked, and pinned the throttle with the tires locked and burned one spot on the belt.

With some diagnosis, we will find your problem.
