Well I was at Lowes with my dad and saw this

well I thought that that was like the coolest thing ever a hybrid lawnmower/portable generator and actually the price isn't bad. If we didn't have our grasshopper zero turn I would probably want this quite badly.

That's just COOL! But how the heck do you get a good finish cutting your grass with suspension? I would think that every bump would cause a variance in height... Maybe you can lock out the suspension for cutting?

Would it not make an uneven cut

Being as it can cut at 8mph and has cruise control it may not be for cutting lawn it may be aimed at a hobby farm
To cut a few acres or something

I know it would be good in our horse paddock

I'm actually wondering why nobody thought of this before it seems so simple, just electric motors being run by a generator. Also the guy at Lowes says that everything on the mower was designed by a former designer at Husqvarna.

Well- it (in and of itself) is not a new idea. Diesel-electric submarines, for example. I think it hasn't been too widely used because of possible efficiency losses. It would seem to me that it would be more efficient for the engine to drive the unit directly, instead of having a middleman. The middleman in this case is the electrical system. The engine charges the battery(s), which in turn propel the unit. Also- batteries cost $, weigh more, and are consumable.

All in all, it does look like a very cool UTV-type thing. I still have my doubts about mowing with it, though. Touching on Masteryota's side-hill (off-camber) comment, I think I would be MORE nervous sidehilling on that thing. Suspension=body roll, something you DON'T want happening... in my mind, anyway.

Well look at me...... I thought it was a mower with a generator on it. seems like a lot of stuff to malfunction. I'd stick with a gas mower.

Keep an eye on these guys, they seldom actually know what they are talking about when it come to junk lowes sells.

That thing is cool though, but ide stick with an engine and forget about generators and e-motors...

I really don't believe him but I'm just quoting him because I looked into it and it is actually made by a high end atv and motorcycle company in china so I might stay away from it but I still like the idea. On the plus though it does have good reviews but I would like to see how well it holds up over time.

So true, it hurts. But then, you get what you pay for. Big box store sales and departmental staff are not well paid. You do the math. As a professional, I have been totally gobsmacked in the past by having some minimum wage loogan in a Home Depot vest telling me what's what. If it wasn't so dang funny, it'd be infuriating...

Yup. Really funny when you have 20+ years experience in residential, commercial, and industrial paint and specialty coatings, and the 9-dollar-per-hour kid at the paint desk (with his pants around his knees and more metal parts on his face than I have in my tacklebox,) telling me I'M wrong... Had one'a those recently. Wasn't sure whether to laugh, or ground him.
