im wondering if there is much of a difference in speed between the predator and animal?

im going to get an engine so far i was thinking about getting the animal but if there is not a big difference in speed between the two id prefer to spend less money.

The animal is faster. As long as they have the exact same mods the animal will outperform the predator all day.

The animal is a racing engine.
The predator is a replacement engine for a Roto tiller!

OK, I just got back from reading about the animal.. It's a 600.00 dollar racing engine vs. As Chancer stated a 100. Rototiller engine. Next we compare good year kart tires to harbor freight cart tires.

But if you spend the Additional 500 dollars on fixing up the Predator I think it is a better engine.

Speed is not determined by the engine, speed is determined by gearing; the gearing you can use is determined by the engine...

Out of the box, All the engines in the Animal range have a peak torque of 14 foot Lbs @ 4100 rpm and deliver around 8.5 horsepower.;compare that to the 212cc Predator which produces 8.1 ft.-lbs. @ 2500 RPM...

Having said that, an Animal will set you back in the realm of $800 whereas a Predator can be bought for under $100; sure, you can then spend $200-300 on parts to build a predator up to be as good or better than an Animal, that's your choice...

If you're going to spend that much have you considered a built clone from a reputable kart racing engine builder? Welder74 on here builds race engines. I've been dealing with Dover Power on my briggs, and it's been a pleasant experience thus far.

I'll just bet if you took an Animal and a Predator, dropped them both from a plane at 10,000 feet at the same time, they each be equally as fast.

Actually going for a terminal velocity of the animal versus The Predator would make something hit difference and it also varies on what location of the country you drop it off at 2 because the humidity factor and what time of year it is will also cause a change in to drop differently. So the animal being lighter than the Predator I would say the Predator would fall about 2.054 terminal velocity faster than the other engine would
