I'm wanting to put an old B&S 8hp flathead on a single seat Streaker.
Thinking about fixing it & selling to finance other karts I have,.
So I'd like to keep costs down as much as possible

I've thought about a centrifical clutch, but from the reviews on most of them they burn up quite easily
Got to looking at torque converters & it would seem for a little more money I'd be better off with one of them.
Comet is expensive, the rest are Chinese knockoffs .
I want to keep costs down, BUT I don't want to sell this kart to someone and they have trouble with it.
Any suggestions

Link below is a Chinese type of 30 series that ships from American distributor. Says 12-tooth #35, but has a 10-tooth #40'..... size also. I've only used the cheap Chinese type TC's from ebay, and never had a problem with anything but the belt tearing up. Wasn't a genuine Comet belt.

Here's the link to size and order a genuine Comet belt. Use the genuine Comet on any TC you get.

Hello again Mad, thanks for the input.
Last year I got hold of a manco kart.
owner said his son would wear out belts about twice a year.
So I ordered belts he recommended.
3 for $25, yeah I know
I wore one out testing the kart, so I put a new one on it & put it up for sale.
And of course when the buyer tested it out the belt was trashed.
Lesson learned.
going to check out links you provided.
Thank You

As I said I have several other karts in various stages of disrepair.
So several days ago I ordered this one while I was waiting for axle & stuff to ship from Gopowersports

Amazon.com: BLACKHORSE-RACING 1" Go Kart Torque Converter CVT Comet Clutch Go Kart Clutch Replaces Comet 219554A 203814A TAV2 30-75 Yerf Dog Manco Mini Bike 10T #40/41/420 Chain : Automotive

Seemed to have good reviews & I thought I'd get my feet went & try it.
The Kart came with a 1" axle and the motor I want to put on it is an old Briggs flathead 8 horse with 1" shaft.
Don't think I'm going to have to worry about this one, I hope, got enough headaches now.

Must pass some credit where due, it was Denny a long time ago that enlightened me to the virtues of throwing $30 to Comet for a belt when 3 Chinese ones could be had for the same money..............and you know what, it's such an aggravation to me that I should have to bust knuckles putting on a new belt because I cheaped out on a Chinee Stretchee Rippee belt that 20 of those belts for the price of a single Comet wouldn't be worth it.

I've had 2 chinese ones. Never had an issue....

hmm the yameige belts are 22 bucks. maybe that's why they last more than others.

The yameige belt is also labeled 669, its meant for a gy6 scooter.

I assume this is what your talking about,

https://www.ebay.com/itm/3730863788...SrI-35FJq64PYM1y2ZJk6rxTZYNAR8oxoC8PMQAvD_BwE

Nowhere does it say it belongs on a comet 30 series.

My point, If it shipped with a no-name, throw it out. If your torque converter shipped with a yameige belt , run it. Ive probally got 50?ish
miles on mine, and it's still hanging it there. Lasted way longer than any other china belt ive had.

When it's time to replace, spend $3 more, and get an American made quality belt that is correctly dimensioned.
