I just bought a two-seater rolling chassis for $50 last week!
I plan on taking some time to fix it up a little bit and then putting a H.F. blue engine on it. I am trying to sell the single seater that I just got running with the blue engine on it so I can get more money out of it, but worst case I am stealing the engine off it to put on the new one and will sell the single-seater chassis instead.
The new chassis already has a jackshaft mounted to it. It has a pretty large sprocket on the axle with a chain to the jackshaft, and then out the other side of the jackshaft is a pulley for a belt to go to the engine. I plan on getting rid of the pulley and replacing it with a sprocket so that I can run a chain instead.
I was just wondering if I should try to mount the new clutch to the jackshaft or to the engine? I was thinking that mounting it on the jackshaft would keep it further away from the heat of the engine and possibly make it last longer. What does everyone else think?
