Since there is alot of people I have learned from Florida as well on here, what are the laws regarding riding go karts here? I know you can't legally just hop on an go tearing down any road. I live in a dead end neighborhood, no traffic and decent size for riding but I feel I'm pushing my luck and all its going to take is some angry neighbor to report me even though I am respectful to other people's property and the time of day. Age is no issue to me (I'm going to be 29 soon) but what have some of you done or places that are ok to go riding where you don't have to worry about anyone bothering you? I have a street kart so I can't go off roading either.

Sorry, i cant help with laws (i live in california :lolgoku:) But i ride my kart around my neighborhood all day nearly everyday past houses with cop cars in front of them and i have never been stopped. :roflol: mind you it is straightpiped and barley muffled. unlike you, age is an issue, as i am only fifteen. I do take precautions though: I signal at every turn, signal when slowing down, stay somewhat near the speed limit (most of the time:oops:), wear a helmet, and fly a huge 5x3 American flag on the back. the kart is also painted bright orange. Lets just say im very visible. :backtotopic: But to answer your original query, the only place you can legally drive a go kart is either on your own property or a track as far as i know.

Florida is tough...
I am a born and raised South Floridian. It was tough to ride anything down there (especially quads and dirtbikes ) on the road. I thought when I moved to Loxahatchee it would be better because they had dirt roads, nope. Now in West Virginia I do like Brokenteenager these days... Just ride around the neighborhood and back streets trying not to be a pest.
Also not using a straight pipe always makes you less of a nuisance.

Good luck.

Yeah I don't have a straight pipe on mine, I am looking at options to make the motor even more quiet (it goes fast enough for me already im not looking for more speed lol) ill just have to do some scouting around town for better places too.

SlickNnick I know how Lox is too, a lot of dirt roads but still a lot of traffic. there are a few cops that I know of that live in my neighborhood and I pass their house with no issues

It is like skateboarding. It is not probably legal anywhere, that is half the fun. Push the envelope stretch the rules play dumb and hope you do not get caught. Other than Annoying neighbors, Most cops have better things to do. Especially if you are not being obnoxious.

I blast through my neighborhood on my minibike with a straight pipe all the time. I don't really care about the cops, I can afford the fines, and some I my neighbors are jerks (gut shot my neighbors family dog kind of jerks) so I just grin like a mule eating briars and stand on it.

high school parking lots? after hours? abandoned business lots? Guess I'm lucky,,, live on a dirt road, off a dirt road,, outside, a small village. Have some neighbors,, but they got toy's too, and we're just respectful, and have fun. Big yellow flag on the yerfdog,, helps for the boys, when they ride.

Lol, I'm actually trying to get that guy to get in my face about it, he gut shot one if my best friends daughters dog, and I had to stand there and watch that little girl cry. He's got one coming. If any of the other neighbors say anything I'll quit, but that one old boy needs a lesson in courtesy IMO, and I'm just the man to teach the class.

One of the best places I found to legally ride a go kart is on my own property. Sounds crazy, I know right? But it is true! I have never been stopped by police riding on my own property. Never been arrested for trespassing or vandalism on my own property either. Weird ain't it? Try it, you too can see I'm right about this.

There's a high school about a 1/2 mile down the road that I used to drive to. The school is built like a college - enormous parking lot that encompassed the school I could drive around. Got pulled over @ 11pm and haven't been back since
I doubt I'd get caught again but they threatened to impound the kart next time.

Edit: Look at it! Was a wonderful place to ride.

yeah,, I can understand if you were tearing up the grass,, or doing damage of some sort,,, but just puttin around the parking lot shouldn't be an issue,, maybe it was the 11pm part that got ya! ;)

Good luck to ya, finding a place to enjoy the kart.

theres a couple of abandoned baseball fields that I go take my carbide out to and tear up. couple of cops have passed by, but never said anything.
also, when its off season, there are some dirt trails that route between several huge crawfish fields.

I have the space to ride, its just finding the time to work on and ride the carbide.

iv also gotten away with riding my mini chopper in town on the streets (where else are you supposed to ride it?), as long as I'm not straying too far from the house.
the bike itself, even tho having a semi straight pipe, isn't loud at all, and no one complains about it.
sometimes, ppl watch for the enjoyment lol
