I’ve bought gold 420 chain from Amazon a few times and it’s junk, I’ve blown out links from it. It’s going on a predator 420 buggy. I did put a lot of strain on it when it grenaded but I still think it should have lasted longer

Oooo GOLD, that means it's PREMIUM chain lol. :wai:

Which brand of chain did you buy and can you describe the abuse you're giving it? Without that I am inclined to believe you're just using it beyond its design limit. Sh;t happens.

Just a reminder that you also must have the proper chain slack for the application. There is no chain driven vehicle that has a specification for zero chain slack. Without slack and when the suspension swing arm compresses, the chain will go. My apologies if this makes you sound ignorant but I'm just covering the bases.

All the chain I've got is older. If you find some quality chain note the brand and buy a big roll of it.

IIRR (only a small chance of that)#40 chain is the same, slightly different width, but stronger
#420 & 40 are 1/2 inch pitch.
#40H Is even mo bedder.
I've been floggin the same chain for a long time on 30HP 800# pig.

☝️Darn fine point. This guy could be using the wrong chain! There's no end to all the possible permutations of user error.
Hey, if you're breaking chain, it sounds like you're doing it right and having fun.

I had I’m using the right chain with about 1/2” of slack. I had my tires buried and was trying to get unstuck and then there was a loud bang. I bought a new chain and now there like a kink it it which I think is from heat. But the first time I had one pop I do think it was user error because it was a bit to tight

A 420 should not be able to snap a # 420 chain. Why do you think the cheap stuff on Amazon is sold so cheap. They aren't A retailer. They are a re-seller. They don't know a darn thing about chain, or anything else that they sell. Buy your supplies from a retail source that is in the business of selling the parts you want. Sure they might cost a buck or two more, BUT they know what works.

I've had good luck from this vendor. Madprofessor suggested this place a while ago.

Go Kart Supply is another good option.
