Where has the time gone... Updates on DIYGK

Just a personal update from me, regarding the site and where the heck I've been...

My partner Megan was severely burned on her (non-writing) hand and forearm back in January. I'm talking 3rd, 4th degree. She fell and put her hand into a camp fire that we had.

After that I took off from all work related stuff for about a month to take care of her.

Then, I took a contract job out of town, and have been doing crazy commuting lately for the last 3 months I guess. I'm talking 1.5 hours each way. (but the money is good, so can't complain!)

So I haven't been around!

However, the contract is up at the end of June, and then I'm thinking that we need some updates and upgrades on the site!

Anyway, yeah I got called out for not being around much lately yesterday and I just wanted to let everyone know why.

Thanks again to all the great mods that help keep this place spam free while I've been busy.

And as to Megan -- she's a trooper. She was seen at the burn unit at the best hospital in the US for burns, Brooke Army Medical Center. They took great care of her, and they're doing it day in and out for our troops too. She was very lucky (as a civilian) they were able to admit her there, which is about 1.5 hours from our home.

She has very minimal scarring (miraculous), but not out of the woods yet. She's getting her range of motion and strength in her hand back. It's about 1/2 strength now in that hand.

So that's that! It's been tough but trust me we're doing great now and just taking it as it comes.

Like I said you guys make the site great. Thanks again to all of you.

Best wishes to Megan. That had to be horrible, I can't even imagine the pain. A very real danger, too. With all that going on, it's a wonder you've been available at all. Personally, I don't think you have to explain yourself, but thanks for doing so.

I'm quite interested to find out what updates and upgrades you have in mind!

Hellspawn presented that idea some time back- I think it's still on the table, but has not been fully addressed yet with everything that's been going on.

Of course I dont' have to explain, but just figured I'd give an update. She's doing fine at this point. We're basically back to normal. Still lingering issues of "is the residual nerve damage / do we operate" but overall, i'm talking miracles. She's back to normal, just a little weak in the hand and needs to wear lots of sun screen b/c that skin is brand new and gets red quick. Thanks everyone for the good wishes.

As far as updates, I want better galleries, i want the youtube connection, i want more forums and to organize our 'best' old content into a 'best of DIY' section etc etc. Chat probably won't happen.
