'C' channel would probably be more suited.

I cut a large square plate of quarter inch steel and drilled holes to fit. Did the same for the jackshaft mount. It's not too hard to make yourself, just need something to cut steel (preferably an oxy cutter or plasma cutter) and something to weld.

Just make sure you measure everything right and get the holes in the right place!

how much is a 1/4 mild steel plate cost so i can make a 17in long by 6in engine plate?
