Go to GoodWill or similar and purchase a used rechargeable electric mower. Motors are tough, powerful (between 2-5hp rated) 24vdc, and usually a fraction of the cost you'd pay for another motor of same power. I pounce on them every time I have the $ and one shows up.

As a former employee of RadioShack, I'll tell you that they tend to be horribly overpriced on many things.

I've been trying to find one of those rechargeable mowers, but they don't seem to be all that common around here. I would love to play with one of those motors. Something like that would definitely be good, Plankton.
