I really need a transmission for an offroad go kart. Just something with like 3 forward speeds and reverse. If someone could tell me where I could find one that would be nice...Later...:auto:

best bet would be an atv engine/tranny. or get a lawn tractor and tranny and mod it

Lawnmower transmissions are not ment to be used for fast speeds or high torque situations, the case will end up cracking, or all the gears will strip. For $150 dollars you could find an old manual dirtbike on craigslist and use that engine, there very easy to use, has chain output and have quite a bit of torque and hp. I just put a 100cc dirtbike engine in my kart, it took about 40 hours of work to get it mounted, extend my frame, run all the shifting linkage and do a few other mods.

Thanks Kaptain Krunch...I might try that...I will have to save up some but it sounds like a good idea because I want to drag race my friend and I need a good engine with a transmission...thanks again...later...

If you want to drag a dirtbike engine is best, i'd go for a nice 125 2 stroke, you could easily hit 80 with one of those.

The second one is more of what im talking about, the first is really crappy and is just going to break. I'm sure you could find a whole used atv with reverse and a few forward speeds that runs for under 500 on craigslist. Im sure it would have a bunch of other nice parts you could use, like the shocks and tires.

Model is right, I actually opened my identical mini bike "transmission" just the other day its just a clutch and sprocket attached by a chain inside.
