Anybody else noticed the guy chomping at the bit starting this thread is not only not entering, but not even active here.....(probably a Poboy casualty.....oh well.....the good ones stay!)

This is for all Not just Pat and Doug:
Me too guys. But I planned for this. In December. and the current build off Runs till Dec.
Figure it this way 10 bucks a week. $520bucks.
I planned 50 a month. $600.00
But with Craigs list and used parts, Steel is cheap. This will be more than enough!
I am very active on this Forum, But an FAR from an Expert Builder Fabricator

I hear ya Eric...but...maybe my current situation is a little hard to understand, but when you are going in debt to pay your bills and buy food....building gokarts is a luxury...I just can't justify right now.
Now...you're absolutely correct....the amount of money involved is a drop in the bucket in the average persons budget....most people spend more on fast food and bottled water....(don't get me started on cable and high speed internet! ....much less cell phone bills....)
But....I'm seriously trying very hard just to keep from being homeless, and without help, already would be....
I think I'm doing pretty good living on almost nothing, but SERIOUSLY, there's just NO "play" money....(although occasionally I do sneak a little in)....but spending $500 on a gokart build, means spending $500 that's NOT mine!
I don't have a wife, I don't and can't get unemployment, so, if I don't work...my income is zero!.....and I was bedridden for about 2 months at the start of this year!
Sooooo....all the money I make for awhile is going to be to repay the debts I've incurred...and as soon as I get a positive cash flow after that...I can look at pursuing some extracurricular activities that cost money!
EDIT: BTW: You may be also ignoring another factor....not all of our members live in California...some may not want to start before the snow thaws!

No. I understand, And Pat too has been Sick. I tried not to make it a personal response to you both.
I just wanted to encourage ALL to think more about Joining the Build off.
I really don't have the money either. Thankfully it is a long contest 8 Months. There may come a time where I do nothing for weeks, due to $

I don't think Pat took it personally, and I for sure didn't.....but....I'M NOT KIDDING!
It's like walking up to the bag lady.....I. SERIOUSLY don't have survival money....SOOOOO....talk to the hand! I imagine Pat is not much better off right now...SOOOO.....Probably would have been better to keep us out of it....
If that $15 a month is nothing....(which it probably is in your situation) ....send it this way.....because...believe it or not....that's a LOT OF GOR**** MONEY FOR ME RIGHT NOW!
