Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a new go kart. Possibly a Manco Rattler LXT (A bit bigger than my previous cart, a Dingo). It comes stock with a 6hp motor and a TC (which brand I am not certain of). Let's assume it's a Comet 30 series. What's the max (logical) size motor I can run on it before having to upgrade my TC to say, a 40 series? Point being that I want a bigger motor, minus the bigger expenses. :roflol:

Thanks guys.

A Comet 30 is usually only safe to use up to about 8hp but, once you get there, you'll have to go up anyway as the engine shaft will be larger

So anything 8 or over is a 40? Do they even make 7hp motors? 7.5? I know there are some rattlers with 6.5s

Yeh they make 7hp motors. Never actually seen a 7.5.
You may be OK up to 10hp if you take it easy
However, they have larger shaft sizes which would warrant a new driver anyway.
I would safely reccomend an 8hp motor with 3/4" shaft as the top.

OK. I'd probably have a hard time finding a 10hp with a 3/4 anyway.

You got it ^^ I don't want to have to upgrade the tc. Just the motor. I wasn't aware that they even made 8hp with 3/4 shafts. I guess i should start looking..
