i live in a city where there are apparently no "go kart shops":ack2:. just a couple of kiddy park tracks. where do most of you get your wheels/tires from? i'm going to be running slicks. is it hard to mount them yourself? do they require balancing?

i'll have to determine the tire size once i get my rear sprocket.

i was going for 7:1 gear ration. but if i have to get a 72t rear sprocket, i'll have 6:1 ratio and i i'll have to deal with it. i'll run a 12 in tire, i just dont want the 12in tires to be too much for my engine.

Maybe just me, but I think you're doing it backward. Source your tires, and THEN select an appropriate gear ratio to work with them. This is especially true when you are limited in what tires you have available to you. It is much cheaper and easier to source a different sprocket...

i think i'll be alright. maxxis makes a 12in tall tire.

i couldnt find a "cheap" 10t clutch anywhere. found some $250 10t clutches, but screw that mess. had to get the 12t. and i was really wanting 7:1 gear ratio for fast acceleration. just dont want my racing kart looking like a monster truck with the taller tires.

how much of a difference would it be between 7:1 and 6:1?? i would like to run 11in tall tires and therefore could only fit a 72t rear sprocket. the 12's are going to look too big i think.

i got to run 12's in rear because of my 84t sprocket. so im going 12x6-6 rear and 11x6-6 fronts.
