Forks done. Tomorrow I reassemble the shock & the rest of the bike (it's already about 40% done but the hard work is still to come) & have it ready to be unveiled on Monday

Bike is just about done, a few little cosmetics to fix & it's ready for the unveiling on Monday.

Sorry guys, no pics until then, I don't want to risk spoiling the surprise but, I promise, I'll have pics & vid up on monday night (my time)

Well, the unveiling went well, all were impressed (not that you can tell from the vid but, I couldn't keep the boys off it).

In all, the only new parts are the cables; all parts were with the bike or sourced from the workshop parts stock, which was minimal (the odd nut or two...)

First thigs first:
Well done Tony!! That looks really good.

And now please excuse but you inadvertently got me excited...
In the video (almost right in the center of the frame all of the time)
is a yellow bike that looks exactly like the stuff I used to collect some years ago.
Something like this

We call them Bonanzarad, Polorad or Highriser...

Please tell me it has a three speed stick shift and a double bridged fork like the Hercules on the picture...

And if so.. please make that your next bicycle project :D
Or the black one in the corner with the double bridge fork and the BMX handlebar...
that'd be MUCH cooler than a MTB :D

PS Again, I'm sorry.. you did great:
but I still love those old muscle bikes and I always want to see more ;)

Close but, no cigar; the bike you pictured has fake suspension, the bike in the vid has real suspension...

I got excited when I saw that bike too, because I built my chopper from the same frame years ago (see pics)... I still miss that dang thing...

And if so.. please make that your next bicycle project :D

Funny you should say that because the coordinator already asked me if I wanted to do that; I told her I'd be too tempted to a 3' to the front forks & rake the frame :lolgoku:

That thing is an original MX, predecessor to the BMX & the missing link between the dragster style bikes of the 70's & the BMX of the 80's...

:iagree: Mountain bikes & BMX are getting a bit of flair & style to them now but, for decades, they've just been the same old boring, straight tubed repetition; the old bikes of the 50's-70's had it goin' on...

AWESOME BIKE!! Well done. I am sure the kids are really going to enjoy it

They did but, not any more; it'll be used as a display to show what can be done if you put in enough effort... which was the aim of the project...

There were hundreds of different bikes back in the days,
some with fake supsension (for real men)
some with real suspension (for sissies)

Just like real men drive a hard tail Harley...
(for a year or two.. then a wheelchair because of the broken spine ;))

Anyways I didn't want to include more than one picture, so I took one with a matching color and carrier layout ;)

Please, restore it... PLEASE (size seven, bold, red... ;))
You did a great job on that crappy MTB,
and a bike like that doesn't deserve any less than that :D

MX??
Now I'm curious.. would you mind to take a picture or two?
