Buy the correct wheels or hubs.
This has been answered... Just get the right wheels to begin with.
But they are so expensive!!! 😭😭😭 And I have the ones off of the mower! Sorry for being so hardheaded, but... Anyways.
I have a set I'm not going to use, I'll get them broken down and cleaned up a bit, then share pics. They are actual kart wheels and while they came off an open wheel, it would only require a second drive hub being added (4 identical wheels in which any one of can be used front or rear)
Thanks, I really appreciate that. If you want to sell them, I wouldn't need them cleaned. I am planning on painting whatever wheels I end up with.
And I really only need two, for the drive wheels.

Now that we have that figured out on to your next problem. Stop starting so many different threads about the same problem and or kart. Start one and keep posting on it. It says so in the rules!

Sorry! I thought I used way too many words the first time, so I wanted to make it simpler, I had no clue it was against the rules. Thanks for alerting me, I will get that deleted ASAP.

@Denny Here's the vintage [kart] porn

As I said somewhere else in this mess of stubborn deafness... steel, 5", 2 piece, set of 4, all hubs are cast aluminum NO threads have been damaged (rear will definitely need bearings, front pairs are decent) the only bolts missing are the set for for the brake/sprocket and that because they were uncooperative and the removal process destroyed them. These are for 5/8" spindle/axle and all hardware is 1/2" threads

I am willing sell for a fraction of cost new as they are now... if I go through the trouble of a full cleaning and repainting them, the price goes up of course.

@Speedster you're calling $30 a wheel expensive... you need to get a new hobby this one is absolutely NOT for you.

If I replace the set of wheels I want to replace with exact match steel... 80+ each

If I replace them with a size larger $110, but tires will be easier to source.

If I replace my tires with a matched set, $600
If I replace them in the next size up, $500

Tires and wheels are relatively expensive no matter what you're getting them for but you have at this point far exceeded my patience for ignorance and ability to tolerate stupid sh★t.

I don't have a ton of money to spend, so I am planning on building on from as many reused or scrap parts as possible. Except for the axle and a few other parts, I think I should be able to do that fine. If I had to buy all my parts, and buy them new, this definitely would NOT be the hobby for me.

Agreed...
you have at this point far exceeded my patience for ignorance and ability to tolerate stupid sh★t.
Sorry about the ignorance, I am remedying that. One instruction manual, website, YouTube video, and question at a time. As for the other one, sorry if it appears that way to you. Perhaps it is. I apologize.

Still gonna send it! (Not suicidally)

I'm no stranger to building with scraps and repurposing crap it true to definition Rat fashion [hense the username]

As for your budget problem, seems to me you must be just a punk kid because I would expect a grown a★s man to have more sense, understand, and make the right choices instead of arguing stupidly.

This isn't you being targeted for fun or out of boredom... You are being targeted because the consequences of hubris is most often death.

The facts remain, some corners can be cut safely however tires and wheels ARE NOT and WILL NOT ever be one of them.

You would be better off buying a used kart than modify it or just get it running if you are on that tight of a budget. Much cheaper then building new.
For me, a well-working go kart is a fun bonus. I really look forward to building the thing from scratch. I understand buying a used one to repair would be cheaper, but I wouldn't get the joy of building it.
100% of wheel / tire failures happen to either the wheel or the tire.
Good to know!
