Hey guys, I'm looking for a winter project for my son and I. I found a kart on cl locally and went to take a look at it today. It has a live axle with a fairly new predator engine. It runs great, but that's about all. Brakes didn't work, throttle cable was hanging open, and it takes off really slow, although I am 250lbs. the tires are decent, but a couple were flat so I assume they leak down. What do you guys thing is a fair price knowing it needs some work.

Agree. With large diameter wheels on the back a centrifugal clutch won't do it.

That's the Predator 212 engine, my kart has that. Nice engine, starts on the first pull, and cheap: $119 at Harbor Freight.

$99 with the coupon. And for another $100? That's some mods and your at 9HP instead of 6.5HP.
Consider the fact that you need a comet 30 torque converter to really make it right. Good for takeoff and top speed. Your looking at another $150-$175 without the belt factored in. And if you don't do that... That Centrifugal Clutch attached to the motor will be shot very shortly... and those run $30 a piece.
On the plus side, it's a really cool cart and it's got a disc brake which is cool. No idea what it's worth. Looks homemade to me but i have no idea, so don't take my word for it.

Thanks for the info on the torque converter. When I looked at it today I offered him $150 for it. I figured I couldn't go wrong for that amount, but he wouldn't take that for it. He said the lowest he would go is $200.
