Hi all, I purchased a used Manco intruder GFX as a project. I went into it knowing I needed a new engine and TC. As I stripped it down, I noticed some poorly done repairs on the engine sub frame. I was originally going to get a 212 predator and 30 TC, but I have to replace the engine mount, and was wondering if I shouldn't just modify it now for a larger engine. I have an older 420 predator off an old project (avatar) and would be into it for the same $ getting a 40 series TC for that as a 212 and 30. The kids will be using this cart too. What do you think?

No question I'd run the 420. If the kids are young fab up a throttle stop with a bolt under the throttle pedal.

This. For the same money, go big or go home. The slippage issues related to limiting throttle with a centrifugal clutch do not apply to a torque converter. You can limit throttle at the pedal with a stop, or at the engine by putting a lighter spring between the governor arm and throttle lever, or with a mechanical stop.

Governor removal should be off the table, assuming you haven't already done it. A functioning governor will make speed limiting FAR more practical.

You can also futz with the torque converter springs and sprocket ratios, but a throttle limit that is easily adjusted would be the most ideal, assuming the kids aren't the only ones who will want to enjoy it. Gearing it slower will just give it more torque, and a wheelie monster that tops out at 25 is probably just as dangerous as something that tops out at 40+

Thanks for the replies. The kids are 7 and 11, although for now I think the 11 year old will be the one that drives it the most. I will use it some and my wife will probably use it quite a bit. I will upload a few photos this weekend.
