What welder

I have been thinking of making a shifter kart to rip around on and was wondering what kinda welder would be good. I like the idea of the arc welders because they seen cheap and fairly easy to use but I want your opinions. My price range is around 200$ give or take 50$. Thanks.

arc can mean alot of different kinds of welders but i'd guess you mean stick arc welders. if you're gonna do thin tube, i'd guess you're gonna have a much easier time with wire feed than stick.

An arc stick welder is good as they are cheap and more suited to medium tickness steel, 80A to 100A is grand for this, higher may be required for ticker steel.

If its only thin steel I would suggest using a wire feed welder so as to not cut through your piece

What do you mean by 80A to 100A? Do you think this would be a good one for me?

80A 100A is amps(the output of the welder, the higher the amps the ticker the steel you can weld)

do you have a 220v outlet where your building your kart?

Suppose you could just ask someone near by I don't really know alot about it.

You could always just look for another welder because that welder requires a 220v input to work so i would suggest going for a welder with a 110v input which is more common, there is no need to go over a 140A welder unless you are doing heavy welding.

A 90amp wire feed will be good enough for just about any cart if properly made. i've welded up to 3/16" or bigger on my trailer with mine and in terms of karts, nothing should approach that thickness on the frame really. kit car builders use 1" 16 gauge steel box sections for diablos and cobras, so just properly triangulate the frame and use smaller lighter tubing.
