I'm thinking of getting the Harbor Freight 16 Hp engine for my arachnid and I seem to have trouble finding a torque converter that goes up that high. I've seen the Comet say 8 to 12 and I thought I saw the 41T by 1" shaft rated up to 16 but just not sure.

Any ideas? Is there another clutch system that might be better?

Thanks

For a CVT, get the Comet 40- rated to 18hp, and could probably handle more. If you want a centrifugal clutch, you'll have to look into Noram, or another race brand.

Or get the 500 series from small engine warehouse, $30 driven
Then pop over to BMI karts and get a driver an belt for $200. Total is around $100 less than a 40 series. And the 500 is more adjustable.

Thanks guys. I think I'll stick with the comet set, just for simplicity. I like your idea though Chez.

I'm going with what you said Chez. That sounds easy enough, plus I'm feeling the pressure of buyer's remorse on all the parts I already bought. need to make this as cost effective as possible now. thanks

Let us know how the 500 series goes  I have not heard it being used much, probably because they are usually more than a 40 series.
