I found this gem at a lawn sale at the end of my road. It has a brand new predator 212 live axle and dual brakes. Was wondering what type it was. It needs new tires and rims for the front. The ones on it now are no good and the kart won't turn it kept going straight. Any help would be great.

Dual brakes? Why?

Yeah, get rid of those front wheels ASAP, they'll last about 10 minutes...

The lack of steering is due to the lack of steering geometry; search "ackermann"...

Well.....

#1: As you know....those crappy plastic tires are for dollies, not steering gokarts.

#2: Your tires have so much toe- out .....ones going east and the other west, and they would rather fight each other than get in line for a turn.

#3: Welcome to the forum!

Correction to original post I ment to say it has two drums for brakes one on each side by the tires.

Again, I ask why? It has a live axle, correct? A live axle doesn't need dual brakes...

The only reason I can think of is it used to have a dead axle & scrub brakes & someone converted it, thinking it still needed a brake on each wheel...

I do agree with Fabroman. It is a live axle so 2 are not needed, but if they are functioning just fine why not leave them. I have heard guys on here complaining their band brakes wont lock up the rear tires, (they should) but still, why not? 2 is better than 1, especially with band brakes that are not always that good. IMHO

I was able to get in the garage last night and adjust the steering. Thanks for pointing it out Poboy. I plan on doing the ackerman mod soon as I get my new rims and tires in.
