well,

Im building a kart and im kinda stuck. I dont know whether to use a briggs 3-5hp or two strimmer engines.

Sounds like an easy choice, but i can get both strimmer engines for free, as for the briggs i would have to pay as i do not have one and my best bet is ebay uk and i would need to pay for shipping which will drive up the price.

With the strimmer engines i would be going for 40cc+ and adding a chainsaw carb to each and running them as in twin engined karts, but the briggs would a more straight forward setup.

Any one got any input?

I agree and think you should at lest try to find a 5hp, or better yet a 6.5hp engine you can afford. Shipping probably wouldn't cost much more than a 3.5 and the extra power will be well worth spending a little more now.

As much as I'd really like to see a kart decently powered by twin weedies (strimmers), it looks like budget is a concern here. I feel ya. That said, if you shop carefully you can probably come up with a briggs or clone for fairly cheap, and the rest of the driveline is straightforward. Who knows what you'd have to buy to make the two little engines happen. Extra stuff for sure...
