I've been considering building a kick azz home built 6x6, using a modified fiberglass bathtub as the body shell.
Yes I'm odd and think outside the box.
I told you guys I see projects in just about everything.
I got a chance to look at a real one very closely a while back, and have figured out how to setup the drive and steering system on it.

That would be so cool. Some have dual steering were the driver or passenger can steer it. You should make it so it has duel links for steering, throttle, and brakes.

Gokart14- If you're bored driving what you've got- modify it! Or hack it up and rebuild into something you'll enjoy.

How bout an old john boat with 3 lawnmower axles, use 2 levers that brake one side to steer, and a 10 hp briggs had plenty of power. Make sure you mount the engine and tires to a solid frame then attach the boat to it. Waterproof 3/4 bearing so it floats.

I call it the HILLYBILLY ARGO muhahahah :stir:

In all honesty, that is a very doable build. Run the power to any one of the axles with a differential installed. Then run chain to the other wheels on the same side. Only the one axle needs to be a "live axle". All other wheels simply need to freewheel on spindles. You can put a brake rotor on each side of the axle and run two master cylinders. Instant skid-steer.

The true difficulty lies in the thru-hull connections- the "waterproof bearings, as Karl said. I've never heard of such things, but I'm sure that some good seals and careful engineering could fix that.

You should put one of those big fans on the back to so when you hit the water you can drive on it

Better yet a 90 degree gearbox with a prop, then you can turn it off with a belt tensioner and put a medal cage around the prop.
