Nope, he is 100% correct with that statement. A lower numerical gear ratio is a higher actual gear ratio, meaning poor acceleration but theoretically higher top speed. A numerically higher gear ratio means more reduction, and a faster take-off, but lower top speed.

If you're gonna talk down on someone, please get your facts straight first.

You get thanked a lot, but I've found a lot of your answers to be incorrect. Like this one above, but I suppose it's not a big deal.

Apparently you cant handle being wrong. If your gonna give advice, make sure its right. Anyone with a even a mediocre understanding of basic physics can be 100% sure that your wrong.:mad2:

Try again. 1:1 is geared high. Remember it as the closer to 1:1, HIGH rpms. 1:10 is geared low. Remember it as the further from 1:1, the LOWer the rpms.

I found this site to be best so far:
http://www.4lo.com/calc/gearratio.htm

Tire Diameter: Measure side to side (not around whole tread of tire)
Diff Ratio: Thats the whole 1:1 or 4:1 thing
RPM: Put in your max rpm
Transmission Ratio: Just put 1 cuz we arn't dealing with that
Transfer Case Ratio: (same thing as above)
Then click calculate not entering anything into MPH.

You will quickly see (and learn) that 1:1 is much FASTER.
4:1 will give you better ability on a hill.
Try it out, then come back to test your facts. :)

And you find his statement to be wrong, how? It may not be worded very eloquently, but the info is correct. You dispute this because...why?
