Just picked up a Coleman ct 200 u . Did the stage 1 upgrade ( header , intake , rejet carb , and the governor zip tie trick temporarily. Going to upgrade my valve springs to 18lbs noticed engine has a little sputter at higher rpms . Just need to know the correct number that my Valve lashes should be set to . Thanks

Hello and welcome...
Remove the zip asap.. unless you want a con-rod to the jewels.....
And also ditch the valve springs and keep the stock, as you have a stock con-rod, that would be a weakest link for a rapid disaster dissection recipe...

So stock rod, stock springs. New springs, new rod.... And this is with the gov removed completely inside and out.

Thanks for the reply . Wouldn’t the valves still float @ higher rpms if I did not upgrade my valve springs ? I definitely plan on removing the zip and taking the gear out .

Yes they would.. but to the benefit of allowing to act as a governor, short of the threshold of the con-rod letting go...

The figures I have written down for 196cc non hemi motor valve lash are .015mm intake and .02mm exhaust.
