Gday from Queensland Australia. I have only just discovered this go kart forum although I have been fairly active on other vintage motorcycle restoration forums for several years and have found them very helpful.
I have 5 grown up kids and 4 grandkids at the moment so I would like to start building a couple of go karts for the grandkids for when they get older. Im not in any hurry as they are only around the 2 and 3 yr old at the moment.
My question is what plans should I use or follow to build them. I have a number of motorcycle engines 50cc-90cc with centrifugal clutches in them that I would like to use. They are 4 stroke honda scooter engines. I have plenty of spares for them. I also have 8x 6inch wheels that I would like to use as well. I have all the necessary tools and machinery to build them. I have a lathe, welders etc. I would like them to be fairly light and mainly for kids. I can alter the plans to fit these engines.
thanks in advance for any advice. I heard somewhere there are free plans somewhere.

You dont really need plans to build a simple kart. With your intro, your no noob to building, apparently . Typical 1 seat kart has a rear axle that measures 40". With that in mind, thats gonna tell you how wide you can go. If you want , after work i can measure and give you the basic dimensions of my YellowJacket 1 seater and of my 2 seater kids kart. Someone will probably beat me to it.....
