If you want a decent price I would reccomend a 6.5 horse clone motor now these engines are OK but some mods are going to have to be made, but if you blow it up its not a big deal because you can get them for about 110-120 bucks. Remove the govenor and other stuff. If you want to be the cooledst guy on the neighborhood I would reccomend the Briggs & Stratton animal engine

Yeah- I'm with Russ. Who says they have to be made. I'm confident that there're many people quite happy running stockers. Mods on these engines have to be made about as much as they have to be made on Honda's, Briggs', Tec's, Robin's, Wisconsin's, etc...

All these engines and many more will power your kart just fine, right outta the box.

It's posts like these that tend to scare some people right out of our favorite hobby.

I know I was...and still am. Anyone who knows me knows that I restore and collect antique engines. I still run the old cast iron B&S's (40's and 50's) on karts and bikes just for s&g's. They can can barely hit 20 mph and are unbelievably fun to drive...especially on an icy winter day.

i think wat he means is sometimes the valves rattle and are not strong or small stuff like that, which does not mean that they are not runable out of the box but that if you puch them to hard they have a more than little chance of blowing the engine. just a opinion and not a "Scare people out of their favorite hobby" he is just trying to suggest something.
