What kinda Engine is this??

so i bought this engine off a guy on craigslist, when i got home i realized it had no identifications...

ive been researching and i think its a tecumseh h50, the guy after all said it was on a snow blower and believed it to be a 5.5 hp

any help would be great!

It's definitely Tecumseh. Look for stamped string of numbers on flywheel housing.

does it look to be a 3.5 or 5hp by what you can tell?

Can only guess. Check for numbers. All Tecumseh engines have them. Will tell you everything you may need to know.

9 cubic inches is somewhere in the 4hp area, that engine most definitely came off a snowblower because its equipped with the (very expensive) 110 volt electric starter.

I think you would be fine using it. If your gonna run it into the ground make sure it's not a hs50 they have some high resale value if you find the right person.

Starters that utilize line voltage aren't really in demand.

Make sure you build an air filter adapter or it won't last long at all.

Snowblowers/throwers don't use air cleaners/filters as snow isn't all that dirty.
Will need one if converting to motor vehicle use.
