In reality, it is a Corydalus cornutus or a Dobson Fly. The Kaptain was closer than he thought.

yea that picture doesnt do it justice either because that one was the size of my hand so Im glad it was dead when i found it.

I actually have hunted June bugs with a full auto airsoft gun I made. It would empty the ~80 round hopper in a couple short bursts and cut a cardboard box in half . The orange BBs were like tracers. It was an old fire extinguisher filled with an air compressor, a pill bottle and a pen tube for the barrel.
