So I recently got a go kart from my friend dead axle with band brakes and a centrifugal belt drive clutch I was wondering what I have and is it possible to mount a torque converter on this puppy

I see some Carter bros. characteristics, but looks like a "Streeker". Not 100% on either.

Looks like a gear reduction unit. Though personally I'd take the belt off and replace it with a chain. Belts are know to slip, and if it breaks when you're riding it you might lose and ear... or part of your arm. They usually use these for small kids for safety reasons.

Though if you take out that tank bracket, you might be able to put on a TC. Also that GRU.

I'm not sure a TC mounted to a dead axle kart is a wise decision to make..
keep in mind that you almost triple your torque at take off...
on roads that might be feasible, on grass that somehow suggest constant loss of traction.
