I'm in the process of getting my engine to run when I found this nasty stuff. I was cleaning the carbuator when I found this orange mushy stuff all in the bottom of it. What is this?

Carb cleaner, watch your eyes.

I just cleaned my honda gx140 and the float is made out of an orange plastic. I had orange plastic goop on the bottom too.

I would just wipe the float off. Maybe put a little gas in a coffee can and wash the float a bit. As for all the other bits of a carb, carb cleaner is fine. If you hit some plastic just wipe it off quickly.

Soak plastic in gas and metal in carb cleaner. My guess too is rust and varnished gas.

Now thats a nasty carb. Wipe it out as best you can. My guess is you will need new seals for at least the bowl judging how bad it looks. (if there is a seal left!)

Make it clean, you dont want that stuff clogging up the jet.

Besides cleaning the carb I'd check and make sure your gas tank isnt all rusty/dirty inside and make sure you've got a good fuel filter (or strainer) to help keep this from happening all over again.

Gas does a darn good job on parts that could be damaged by carb cleaner.
