What is this on the engine? Solution to my engine?

As you can see I am very new to engines and everything and I have been having a problem with my little 2hp B&S motor. I can start but I have to kind of hold the choke forward so it opens up more. Then once it starts it'll run for maybe 3 seconds tops, then dies out Is this little tube maybe the fuel line? Am I perhaps not getting any fuel to the engine once it starts ? This little tube thing isn't hooked up to anything and I just don't know what it is

Haha sorry for my ignorance you're right. But I did FINALLY get the engine running without dying it sounds pretty healthy and strong I just had to adjust the little screw on the throttle and also the screw on the choke and it runs like a charm

But still thanks for responding cause I have been curious as to what that little tube is for

It is the crankcase breather & should be connected to the carb...
