Russ i'm confused by your statement that the keyway is half the size of the width, which if the keyway is 3/16" would mean that the distance from the top of the shaft toward the center would be .09375". But then you said that there square, meaning it would be 3/16" x 3/16"
If you cut the keyway the same depth as the key, key won't do anything except fit flush with PTO surface.
It's supposed to fit into clutch as well as shaft, or half and half.
Doesn't apply to width.

Right right I follow now, must of had one too many of New Belgium's finest the other night.

Haha I don't have to pay for a
few simple bits if machining at the shop I use. The guy just says
it's nothing and askes me to go lol
