What HP is this

So I put a wanted out add for any engine. The next day a cool older guy answered and I went and picked up two engines . One is a vertical shaft briggs Im just going to use for parts. The other is a horizontal from 1980. It has gear reduction which I think is about 6 to 1 so its ready to have a vbelt slapped on there so I can have slipbelt clutch. I cant tell wat hp it is it doesnt say on the casing anywhere. It sorta looks like a 3.5 but Im not sure. If you guys can tell thatd be cool.

Looks just like my 3.5, same color, carb, gas tank, even the same gas line, mine doesnt have the gear reduction tho, and mine has an airvane governor. Anyways, if you can find the model type and code i can confirm the displacement and year.

Surburban, whats the screw with the spring then? haha im pretty new to engines and thought that was the mixture screw.

Screw with spring that is on the throttle shaft is the idle speed stop screw, it adjusts idle. big thumbscrew on the bottom is mixture. If you find an additional screw it is idle mixture.

Hey so I mounted it on my kart today but I couldnt get it to rev right so I switched out the carb for the one off the 2 hp engine. How much will this limit the power? if its serious then ill try to figure out the bigger carb.

It won't work very well at all. Certainly won't rev out under load, probably won't make more than about 3.5hp.

Explain?

You can't flood it, liquid gasoline simply cannot make it into the engine.

Cleaning is as easy as pulling the main mixture adjustment assembly out and letting the gasoline rinse out the junk(main jet screw is lowest point in the system).

If the float or needle dies, it will still run.

I removed it because I was having trouble tuning it and hooking up my throttle cable (I already had the throttle hooked up to the old carb). Its easy enough to switch but my 2 hp carb seems to working pretty darn well my gokart moves now
