Hello, I'm new on here and I was wondering what hp motor I should get.I have a smaller lime limo sears racing kart and I was considering getting a 13hp predator for $359.99 or a 6.5 hp predator for $99.99.:)

Keep in mind that sometimes increased displacement means increased weight.
You may want to go with increased hp from a smaller motor.
A lot of it depends of what kind of kart you're putting it on.

Hmm 13 or 6 horse. That's a tough one.

Usually it's the cost that is the limiting factor.

And physical size... If you can't fit the 420 without major mods, then look into the 301. And if that won't fit, then you have your answer.

Plus performance parts are cheaper for the 212. A bigger engine will accelerate you faster, but if it can only spin 3600 RPM, it's not going to get you more top speed apart from being able to manage a slight bump in gearing without damaging clutches or TC belts.

For a smaller kart, if it was me i would just get a 6.5 hp and do some easy mods. With just a filter, jet, exhaust, and governor removal, you will be getting close to 9 hp probably but still for half the price and less weight and space than a 13 hp. The only way I would say a 13 hp is better is if you plan on having quite a bit of weight in the kart.

Buy 6.5 hp engine.
Have fun with it till you don't. Remove govenor. Enjoy all over again till you don't.
Add on hi perf parts to 6.5 and enjoy all over again till you don't. Buy 13 HP engine. Repeat.
Simple.

This.

With one caveat. If the usage terrain will involve hills and a lot of stop/stop or beating friends, then you might want to make bigger work out of the box.

Like the other said, integration complexity can kill a project quick if you don't have the skills to adapt and overcome fitment issues.

Theres three reasons why i would want a 13 hp engine (1)My friend and i weigh around 320lb. together and we go fishing alot around the farm so that extra power would be handy(2)We own a greenhouse and have some horses that are fond of getting out and again the extra power and speed would come in handy(3)More power=More speed=More fun:2guns:

Go 212cc and remove the governor along with the stage one kit from go power sports. This has really helped my uncle, and I will remove the governor soon. The stage 1 kit gives you so much power.

320lbs=420cc HANDS DOWN. Not to mention weight of kart. Details of what its being used for makes all the difference,
